Pip value at reference lot sizes
Uses your contract size and conversion rate. Reference only; broker volume limits still apply.
How this result is calculated
Your calculation breakdown will appear here.
Calculations use unrounded values; displayed amounts may be rounded. Pip value and movement value use the same conversion rate. Spread is reflected only if included in your execution prices. Commissions, financing, slippage and future conversion-rate changes are not added. Confirm the instrument specification with your broker.
Turn a price move into a clear value
For 1 lot of 100,000 EUR and a pip size of 0.0001, one pip is worth 100,000 × 0.0001 = $10 in a USD account. A favourable 10-pip movement is worth $100 before trading costs. A 0.00001 price tick is one tenth of a pip and is worth $1 for that position.

How do I calculate pip value?
For a linear contract, multiply position size in underlying units by the pip size to get the value of one pip in the quote currency. Then convert that amount into your account currency. For example, 100,000 EUR × 0.0001 USD per EUR = $10 per pip on EUR/USD. Lots are converted into units using your entered contract size.
What is the difference between a pip, pipette and tick?
A pip is usually 0.0001 for forex pairs and 0.01 when JPY is the quote currency. A pipette is one tenth of a pip. A broker may quote fractional pips, such as 0.00001 or 0.001 for JPY pairs. A tick is the instrument’s minimum allowed price increment. This calculator keeps pip size and minimum tick separate, so a five-decimal forex quote does not accidentally make the pip value ten times too small.
How do I find the number of pips between two prices?
Choose Compare prices. For Buy, signed pips = (exit price − entry price) ÷ pip size. For Sell, the sign is reversed. A positive result is favourable; a negative result is adverse. Fractional pips are supported when the price difference aligns with your minimum tick. Entry and exit must be positive prices on the broker’s tick grid.
How does account currency conversion work?
Pip value starts in the quote currency. If your account is in that currency, no conversion is needed. If the account is in the pair’s base currency, the quote amount is divided by the pair price. Compare prices uses the exit price; Enter pips uses your entered conversion price. Other account currencies require an exchange rate you enter. A broker-rate override and a Reverse quote button are available. No live prices or rates are fetched.
Why can pip value change when the price changes?
For a fixed position and pip definition, pip value in the quote currency stays constant. Its value in another account currency can change with the conversion rate. For example, 1 lot of USD/JPY has a quote-currency pip value of 1,000 JPY. In a USD account, that is 1,000 ÷ USD/JPY at the rate used. In Compare prices, the displayed account-currency pip value is valued at the exit price when automatic base-currency conversion applies.
Can I use this for gold, crypto or indices?
Yes, for linear contracts with the correct contract size, quote currency, pip / point size and minimum tick. The gold, Bitcoin and index presets are examples, not universal broker specifications. Gold has no single pip definition shared by all brokers. Indices often use points, and crypto lot sizes vary. Edit Broker specifications or choose Custom instrument. Inverse, quanto and options contracts are outside this calculator’s model.
Does leverage change the value of one pip?
Leverage does not change pip value for the same position size, pip definition and conversion rate. It changes the margin needed to support that position. Increasing the position size increases the pip value and the value of both favourable and adverse movements.
Are trading costs included?
The movement result is a gross value. Spread is reflected if you enter actual bid/ask execution prices, but no separate spread, commissions, financing or slippage allowance is added. Enter pips holds the conversion rate constant; a later rate may change the realised account-currency value. Calculations use unrounded values, while displayed amounts can be rounded.
Why does my input show an error?
Trade size must match the broker’s minimum lot size, maximum lot size and lot increment. Pip size must be at least one tick and a whole multiple of the minimum price tick. A pip movement must represent a whole number of price ticks. Other currencies need a valid conversion rate. Invalid inputs clear the previous result, so an old estimate cannot be mistaken for the new one.
